Best Practices, LLC undertook this research to assist a pharmaceutical company in creating hospital-based initiatives that improve emergency care for psychiatric patients while potentially enhancing market share for psychiatric drug treatments. The study provided greater insight into the healthcare administered to mentally ill patients presenting with an episodic crisis. Specifically, the study addressed issues such as communication gaps between the patient and healthcare provider, and patients who are more likely to fall through the cracksls in the healthcare delivery process. In addition, the study looked at what decisions are made along the way and by whom and considers how healthcare could be improved for these critical patients.
