Study Overview:
Ongoing trends towards more globalization and outsourcing require companies to become more sophisticated and efficient in managing a more diverse work force in different locations across the globe. This 31-slide presentation looks at one aspect of global personnel management: Training, Learning & Development of International Employees. The study findings will help executives compare, improve or extend current international learning programs based on the best practices identified at benchmarked companies.

Topic Areas:

  • Methods to Transfer Knowledge Effectively (Learning Channels, Translation, Customization)
  • Program Management & Cost
  • E-Learning Trends
  • Program Effectiveness Measures & Impact
  • Lessons Learned in International Learning Program Management

Sample Key Findings:
  • The majority of benchmarked companies spend less than $500 per full-time equivalent employee (FTE) regardless of the region.
  • On average, 75% of U.S. learning initiatives have a corporate focus and half of the programs for Europe and Asia are country-specific.
  • 62% of benchmarked companies translate learning material from English into the local languages either through a local company resource, a contracted agency, or on an ad hoc basis through local employees using English learning material as a basis.

Methodology:
Best Practices, LLC conducted an internet benchmarking exchange survey with 24 international/global companies across different industries. The study was completed for a Global Benchmarking Council member.
