Fourth Medical Affairs Roundtable: Impact Measures, Globalization and Compliance

CHAPEL HILL, N.C., Nov. 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Research and Benchmarking firm, Best Practices, LLC hosted its fourth Medical Affairs Roundtable on Thursday, November, 6th to discuss "Impact Measures, Globalization and Compliance in Medical Affairs."

The virtual conference, took place between 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time), and examined:
  • Delivering Value through Medical Affairs Activities
  • Effective Communication Channels for Medical Affairs Activities
  • Managing Globalization and Overcome Local Challenges
  • Creating a Strong Compliance Strategy

Our roundtable provided Medical Affairs executives a chance to discuss the best practices in communicating the value of Medical Affairs activities. "We are in a process of evolution in value delivery. We are trying to move away from just characterizing how many things are getting done to what the impact truly is," says one of the executives who joined the roundtable from a top biopharmaceutical company.

In addition, the discussion revealed important insights on how to manage globalization successfully. "I believe it is very important to ensure acting locally, but thinking globally. You need to understand local differences, while creating global strategies and policies," says one of the executives with deep global experience.

Best Practices' CEO Chris Bogan, Executive Director Cameron Tew and Operations Research Analyst Ozge Uyanik facilitated the roundtable discussion that is based on research conducted with 29 medical affairs leaders from 26 leading life sciences companies. The discussion brought together executives from the following leading organizations: Baxter, Eli Lilly, Genentech, Pfizer, and Teva.

The fourth roundtable is also the first meeting in the three roundtable series of the 2014-2015 Medical Affairs Consortium. We will be discussing launch excellence in Medical Affairs in the next roundtable in February.
