Internal Communication Strategies and Tactics that Resonate with Key Stakeholders and Drive Organizational Effectiveness

The report, Best Practices for Ensuring Internal Communications Excellence: Increase Organizational Effectiveness, identifies the preferred channels and tools for communicating with internal executives as well as optimum frequencies and approaches for internal communications.
For instance, communications leaders from 162 companies clearly felt that some types of information should be conveyed via face-to-face meetings while other, more general information, is best delivered by email. Training modules, vendor communications, and strategy guidance were three topics that were most effectively shared via face-to-face meetings, a majority of study participants said. Meanwhile, benchmark, product and industry information are best conveyed by email, a majority of participants agreed. Internal communication also is an important component of brand management for new products.
The timeliness of the research project was apparent - it drew participants from 162 companies across more than a dozen industry sectors, including the pharmaceutical industry. The 54-page study presents a wide array of insights across a number of critical internal communication fronts. Key study objectives were:
- Identify types of internal communication mostly used by executives
- Identify preferred medium for internal communication
- Measure internal communication effectiveness
This new report will help organizations improve the efficiency and effectiveness of their internal communication approaches and processes. The study also provides key insights and metrics across a variety of internal communication issues such as preferred platforms for communicating with peers, superiors and subordinates; preferred formats for reviewing business-related information from external sources and what types of information participants wanted to receive from internal sources. These are just a few of the dozens of internal communication questions addressed in the new study.
