Third Medical Affairs Roundtable: Effective Thought Leader Management

CHAPEL HILL, N.C., June 13, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Research and Benchmarking firm, Best Practices, LLC hosted its third Medical Affairs Roundtable on Thursday, June, 5th to discuss "Effective Thought Leader Management"

The virtual conference, took place between 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. (Eastern Daylight Time), examined:
  • Improving coordination across functions and regions
  • Increasing the value of thought leader interaction
  • Optimum contact frequency with thought leaders
  • Leveraging new technologies

Our roundtable provided Medical Affairs executives a chance to discuss how peer companies are employing CRM and communication technologies to coordinate thought leader interactions across various departments and business units. "We are using a database which allows us to plan the coming up interactions, understand who owns these interactions, and which thought leaders are tied to them globally across different affiliates and teams. This database helps us to be more strategic in when and how to use a thought leader," says one of the executives who joined the roundtable.

Best Practices' CEO Chris Bogan, VP of Research and Advisory Services Jonathan Tanz and Executive Director Cameron Tew facilitated the roundtable discussion that is based on a research conducted with 40 medical affairs leaders from 32 leading life sciences companies. The discussion brought together executives from the following leading organizations: Amgen, Astellas, Astra Zeneca, Baxter, Eli Lilly, Forest Labs, Genentech, Merck, Novartis, Pfizer, ProStrakan, Sanofi, Teva.

The 3rd roundtable concluded the 2013-2014 Medical Affairs Consortium. However, we will be preparing to kick off the next Medical Affairs Consortium in July.
