Kennedy Space Center developed a consortium approach to benchmarking in response to NASA's challenge to "work better, faster and cheaper" while maintaining quality and safety. The consortium approach to benchmarking uses conventional benchmarking techniques while adapting to accommodate multiple active participants. At Kennedy Space Center, representatives from competing organizations function as a single benchmarking team to encourage cooperation among organizations and to create the synergy of working toward a common goal.
