Best Practices, LLC interviewed seven industry-leading pharmaceutical companies to benchmark staffing, procedures, workflow, and productivity aspects of their quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) laboratories. During benchmark interviews, the research team asked participating executives to describe their top three lessons learned in managing quality control laboratories. This question gives executives the opportunity to provide three pieces of advice to their counterparts in other organizations. Lessons learned help identify potential pitfalls for quality control laboratory managers and executives to avoid as they implement their own continuous improvement initiatives. The research team also asked interviewed executives to discuss the top three challenges they see on the horizon for their quality control laboratories and quality control organizations, in general. This open-ended question offers participating executives the opportunity to share with their counterparts in other benchmarked organizations their top concerns and anticipated hurdles over the next several years.
