Best Practices, LLC initiated this benchmarking study to uncover how pharmaceutical companies develop and use formal training programs to help Key Opinion Leader speakers better communicate basic science, clinical data and practical experiences among their peer groups. Twelve pharmaceutical companies were selected to make up the benchmark class. Benchmark findings suggest that leading pharmaceutical companies structure their speaker training organization in a way that supports a training strategy that is aligned with overall corporate and brand strategies. This 16-page document examines the organizational arrangements companies use to effectively manage speaker training, including centralized and decentralized operations, centers of expertise, and roles and responsibilities among sales and marketing stakeholders.
