Best Practices, LLC initiated this benchmarking study to uncover how companies redesign their structures and assume leaner operational strategies that better reflect and support corporate values. Seven benchmark facilities were selected from sterile, pharmaceutical and chemical manufacturers as well as large pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. Research showed that benchmark partners focus on developing organizations that support strategy and provide plain direction for employees. As one partner notes, a recent restructuring offered “a clear vision about what to accomplish throughout the organization.” Key practices in restructuring included identifying effective operations within current structure to use as building blocks for the new organization and crafting structures to drive achievement of company goals. This 13-page document includes details on these and other related best practices.
